Forest Lawn Art museum

The Forest Lawn Museum, established in 1952, is located at 1712 S Glendale Ave, Glendale, California 91205, within the Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The museum features rotating exhibitions and a permanent collection that includes paintings, sculptures, and stained glass. Notably, it houses original bronze and marble sculptures by European and American artists, as well as stained glass pieces dating from approximately 1315 to 1575, which were once part of William Randolph Hearst’s collection.

A highlight of the permanent collection is the oil painting “Song of the Angels” by French artist William Bouguereau, created in 1881. This artwork depicts a serene scene of a mother and child accompanied by a trio of angels. Along with the largest painting on the U.S. West Coast is The Crucifixion, created by Polish artist Jan Styka in 1897.

The museum also offers a free digital art guide through the Bloomberg Connects app, providing an in-depth look at its artworks, archival photographs, and informative descriptions.

Admission to the Forest Lawn Museum and parking is free.
