Kids and adults really enjoy the Los Angeles Fire Department Museum.

They have everything Fire Department related. Besides firefighting gear going back to the 1800s they have a whole room full of model fire engines and another with badges and miniature firehouses.

The building is the old fire station built in Hollywood during the 1930s and is holding up well for its age. The tin ceiling looks original and from the looks of the place, not much has changed over the years.

The museum also has an extensive collection of firefighting hats from long ago and far away too.

The volunteer staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable pointing out unusual detail like the windshield wipers being on the inside of the open cockpit fire truck from the seventies.

Upstairs is a dormitory, a tribute to the firefighters who gave their lives on 9/11 and a kids play room complete with firefighter jackets and boots they can play with.

There is a room with monitors teaching fire safety and they gave the kids firehats and coloring books to take home.

We all had a great time including Mrs. Everett and the kids.

The LAFD Museum is always free but donations are welcome and the place is only open on Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.
